Bletchley Flyover
Name: Bletchley Flyover
Product used: HD FAB
Location: Bletchley Flyover, Milton Keynes
The East West Rail scheme will re-establish a rail link between Cambridge and Oxford for the first time in 50 years to improve connections between East Anglia and central, southern and western England. Serving communities across the area, it will bring faster journey times and lower transport costs as well as easing pressure on local roads. Phrase 2 of the project will upgrade and reconstruct existing and mothballed (no longer in use) sections of line that will link Bicester to Bletchley and Milton Keynes.
The Bletchley Flyover is a crucial part of the scheme and spans the railway line over two support piers – 18a and 19a. A total of 46no TITAN HD FAB units were mounted onto precast concrete shells – which were used in the construction of the pier walls – providing a wide platformed access solution that facilitated the installation of precast concrete beams over the line. With a 2.3m wide working deck and a high level of edge protection, HD FAB is engineered to give total confidence in safety and security.
