With a mixture of traditional masonry facade and glazing required on this 21-storey structure, main contractor Ardmore Group sought a new, safe and innovative method of facade installation which would remove the need for an external scaffold or mast climbers. The usual type of traditional installation would prove problematic to use on this project due to the building occupying a tight footprint and being encompassed by roads and pathways on three sides.

After consultation and collaboration with Ischebeck Titan, 19 no. Cladding Screens, sized 14.4m high x 4.8m wide, were designed, fabricated and delivered to site. The units were transported pre-assembled, keeping site make-up to a minimum. Installation onto the building was safe and quick – a crucial requirement for the Commercial Road project. The use of Ischebeck Titan Cladding Screens has removed the requirement to strike scaffolding once the envelope is complete, giving a significant advantage on program time. As the screens are hydraulically lifted, a complete envelope is revealed without the need to make good the tie holes.

Fully installed in less than three weeks, the 19 no. Cladding Screens provided five levels of fully gap-sealed access and a safe, tidy environment in which to work, as well as complete protection to the public below.
